English Curriculum and Materials Development

This course is designed to equip students with an in-depth understanding and practical skills in designing curricula and developing English language instructional materials that are contextual, communicative, and learner-centered. Students will study approaches and models for English language curricula, needs analysis, syllabus planning, and the principles of instructional material design. The program focuses on integrating linguistic, pedagogical, cultural, and technological aspects into the development of materials relevant to various educational contexts, including vocational and multicultural education. Students will also examine national and international curricula and evaluate various teaching resources and materials based on the principles of usefulness, appropriateness, and sustainability. The learning process involves critical discussions, case studies, curriculum design simulations, and projects to develop instructional materials tailored to student profiles and the current curriculum. Assessment is conducted through portfolios, presentations, and a final project in the form of a prototype syllabus and instructional materials.
