Philosophy of Science aims to develop a good understanding of the importance of science in the life of scientists. The topics to be covered are as follows: the nature of science, sources of knowledge, criteria of knowledge, scientific epistemology, branches of science, and various scientific paradigms, including the critical theory, science of culture and language, scientific ethics and the uses/functions of science. Teaching and learning activities include lecturing, discussion, discovery learning, cooperative learning, presentation, and reflection. The students’ learning will be assessed through their class participation, completion of assignments (writing and presenting a group paper; conducting group field work and writing the report) and final examination.
