The aim of this course is to develop social – intercultural communication competence in students by giving them practices in using spoken English appropriate to the social expectations and culture of their community. Social – intercultural competence includes communication fluency, appropriateness regarding cultural values and norm, as well as effectiveness in reaching the communication goal. Materials include spoken and written texts in the form of videos and handouts on both formal and informal language functions. Classroom activities are conducted in the form of role plays, mock interviews, exchanges, and language games. Students are evaluated based on their daily individual performance, projects completion, classroom participation, and spoken tests.
